Anyone have a problem making a backup copy of "The Grudge"

I've tried to make a backup copy from 2 different original discs. Everytime the file VTS_08_3.VOB doesn't fully copy, its suppose to be like 145mb and only copies about 141mb. These were from 2 new clean discs. Is this some sort of protection they have built in where one file won't copy all the way.

What are you using to decrypt the disc?
I was going to ask the same thing. The latest copyprotection scheme can be bypassed by the latest version of DVD Decryptor. Though apaprently it's such a horribly ineffective protection scheme that I suspect most decrpyting programs will have workarounds soon.

I'm using decrypter V3.5.2.0 to rip it to the HD, then clone dvd to try and remove the extras. When I load the dvd files to clonedvd it say that VTS_08_3.VOB is an invalid file size and it won't do anything so I'm stuck there. Like I said I tried 2 different new discs.

Are you using the latest version of Decrypter? It was recently updated with regards to some of the newer protection schemes.

If the latest version of DD doesn't work for you, give SmartRipper a try.

Yes thats the newest version of DVD decrypter I think. I finally got it , I had to get AnyDVD demo and then used my Intervideo DVD copy. Not sure why the decrypter and clone wouldn't work. BTW I used the Intervideo DVD copy then clone to actually burn it, didn't even need any compression.

I had the same problem trying to backup "The Grudge". It is released by Sony so it has an encryption that dvd shrink couldn't deal with. I went to a forum and found that the movie "The Forgotton" has the same encryption. Someone posted a solution to back up 'The Grudge" which is the same as backing up "The Forgotton". Here is the link to solution using the latest version of dvd decrypter and dvd shrink:

It worked for me. Good luck.
