Slight chance my dog may have this. Enlarged liver and a few other symtoms. Vet is going to do bloodwork on Thurs so I will know more then. Just interested if anyone has experience with this disease because the stuff I found online made it sound like it was pretty hard to manage. Thanks

haha i could just imagine what cushing's would look like in a pet... i never even though about it until just now

poor pets 🙁

doubtful... cushing's disease is typically caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland which causes it to secrete more acth...

doubt it has to do with the recall, he does eat the jerky treats by del monte which were recalled yesterday but different lot number. Like eits said it most likely is caused by a tumor.

One of my dogs has cushings. There was a lot of trial and error getting her meds at the right dosage but she's doing very well now. She's lost a lot of the extra weight that she put on and she's able to control her bladder MUCH better. The drugs used to treat it are very expensive (lysodren / mitotane) but there are other options available. Once the dosage has been finalized, have your vet contact a compounding pharmacy and get them to make it for you instead to buying the name brand version from the vet. I use BCP (full disclosure - I'm friends with the owner of BCP) Vet Pharmacy for the compounding. They compound the meds into a treat for the dog and she only has to take 2 a week.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.
