Anyone have a Norstar phone system at their work?

So we are trying to figure out how to remove a feature from our phones but can't figure it out, and don't really feel like paying $89/hr for someone to come down and show us how (it would probably take them 6 seconds to do it).

Everytime we need to dial long distance we have to do the following:

Feature Button
68
<6 digit code>
Telephone number

Everyone who needs to dial long distance knows how to do this so it's pretty much just an annoyance. We want to remove it but damned if we know how.

Ideas?

EDIT: Does "we" include the boss?

What does DSU stand for and where would I find the model number? 😱

On the manual it says "Norstar-PLUS Modular ICS 2.0".

Not sure if that will help or not. Also, yes the boss is aware of this. He's the one who told me to get rid of the feature.

ahhhhhh.... crap. I used to change settings like that all the time, but I can't remember how to do it.

What I did was create a feature button that autmatically hit feature 68 (or another line group... we used more than one)... but that's all I had to do. IIRC, you'll still have t enter the six digit number.

Go to the admin phone (if you have one designated for that), and just look around in the config menu... that's where you set up the features to do what I described above.

I suspect that to turn off password protection (which is what I would assume the six digit number is), you would need to enter the operator/setup menu, and look around in there. I've done it before, but it's been almost a year since I had to reconfigure a Norstar, and I can't remember it all off of the top of my head.

It is under a menu called "toll restriction" I never use it myself, since most carriers will do it for you outside your system.

... and suddenly that hideous menu works its way back into my mind...

Just program it onto a particular button on your set.

Feature * 0 will let you look at your button programming.. Find one either empty or not used for anything, and program the feature code onto that button. they will still ahve to use the LD code, but if you have a Call Accounting system, you'd want that in place anyways.

toll restriction on the phone system side really blows. firt you go in and make codes for the salesmen, whatever. then you have to hook the system up to a printer, and print out all this crap for the bean-counter. Things break.
The long distance provider does it for free, and THEY print out all the crap logs for the bean counter!!

Thanks for the replies!

I'll check out that toll restriction setting and see what I can find. Something tells me that I'm going to need a password to get in there though...and I'll be damned if I have it or if anyone remembers what it is.

Sigh, me thinks this is going to be a long and frustrating afternoon...
