Been checking reviews from various websites and youtube and truly I'm on the border to get one (Sprint) or wait for the Instinct to come out, June 20th :(

I like it a lot, but a few issues:

-Dust will find its way under the screen. Not much you can do except buy the insurance and get it cleaned at the Sprint store for free.
-The interface can be sluggish at times, especially texting. Turn off predictive text and it will be much faster.
-Camera sucks and it has no MMS

The good stuff:

-Unlocked GPS, works great with Windows Live and Google Maps
-Nice keyboard, good tactile feedback and keys are spaced enough for big thumbs
-Comes with great applications (IM client, On Demand, etc.)
-Great battery life and nice screen

That's all I can think of now. I can't wait for the Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade. Hopefully that will fix menu lag and finally give us threaded texting.

Sweet. Thank you for the comments. Yours seems to echo people on Sprintusers and various websites that have reviewed it.
In your opinion, do the pros outweigh the cons?
Also, with predictive text, is that just a flaw with WM6? With the dust, I had an older Sanyo 8200 that had that issue. Sucks to pay the insurance per month due to dust.
If you had a choice, would you have waited until the Instinct came out? Are you happy with the phone?

I thought about getting the Instinct, but honestly, I don't think I could get used to a touch-screen keyboard. That was the deciding factor for me. The dust issue sucks and there's nothing you can really do about it, except take it apart and reseal it. I'm not sure how it even passed QA from Motorola, but it seems most electronics are getting cheaper these days. The good thing is that you only notice it in direct sunlight, when the backlight is on you don't notice it.

It's a good idea to have the insurance anyways. The phone isn't cheap, and if you have any problems within the manufacturer warranty period you get a new one without paying a deductible, if the phone does indeed have a defect. This is the first phone I've ever had where I bought the insurance for it. I normally get phones under $150 so the insurance was never worthwhile. I'm not sure how soon you need to upgrade, but it may be worth waiting until the Instinct comes out then you can compare the two. WM 6.1 should be released in a few months too.

Thanks again for all your feedback. I ended up buying a Curve. To me the Q9C didn't look all that special and with all the stories I've heard about the dust and bugginess of the phone, I thought the Curve was the better choice. The Instinct, although looked very enticing to wait for, lacked real buttons which I'm fond of. However, I still have 30 days to try the Curve. I just may get the Instinct once the demo comes out in my local store.

Yes, but I pay $22/month for my entire Sprint bill. Another $30/month doesn't quite fit right in my scheme.

It was $15, but I added the $7 TEP (insurance) a couple of months ago. My friend works for Sprint, gives me an employee plan. It's like SERO, but no contract and phone upgrades whenever I want :D
