from what i've read they're almost as reliable as regular miatas which is a good thing.
the one i'm looking at is an 04, 45k miles, for 11.5k
it has an autopower roll bar and flyin miata downpipe already. (i was planning to get those anyways - along with the exhaust, intake and intercooler upgrade)

really good shape, just 1 door ding on passenger side, and foglight on passenger side is also shattered, i have not checked with the dealer to see how much a replacement is yet.

it was pretty fun to drive, i'm on the fence right now...i've been looking for s2000's but most of the ones in this price range are at ~100k miles.

would it be better to go for one of those instead?

They're kind of in a stepchild phase right now. The newer NC models have dropped in price considerably and you can find a 2006-2008 for a good price. They make about the same power naturally aspirated.

Also, you can get non-mazdaspeed NBs for the same prices as the earlier NA models.

yea but the upgrade path for a msm is easier
and i like the nc2 with the new front end.
nc1's are in the 15 range, i think i'd have more
fun in the msm.

I had a Mazdaspeed Protege and followed all of the Mazdaspeeds closely around that time. My biggest issue was the bolt-on feel of the cars. Many suffered from some type of hesitation or throttle response. The cars were not designed from the ground up to be turboed. I would only consider the newest Mazdaspeed 3 to be correctly designed from the ground up.

I've owned an '04 for just about a year. It's a great car - tons of fun, looks great (Velocity Red), and very reliable so far. It's bone stock, but I hope to do some of the Flyin' Miata upgrades in the future. If you get one, I doubt you'll regret it.

It's funny, some people don't even know the NBs are Miatas. I had a neighbor standing literally right in front of mine, asking where my Miata was. He felt pretty silly when I pointed to hit right behind him. He though it was some kind of Fiat or something.

im kinda deciding if i want the red or grey right
found a grey with 39k miles for the same price
no downpipe but it has a roll bar already.

The Miata has ALWAYS been ready for turbocharging, as the motor used from day one was the 323 Turbo unit withou the turbo. The NB motor even has oil spray, even on all the Normally Aspirated blocks.
