So I drove the car all day but went to see my gf around 4pm. We left about 7pm to drop her off at her mom's house and the damn car wouldnt start. Lights seem to work fine and so did the radio. I heard no clicking noise coming from the engine to say it was the starter. So, my gf gave me her key and the car started up fine. I'm puzzled now. The key she has is a spare key from lexus. The key I have is one of those keys you buy from ebay that was programmed/cut for my car straight from the dealer who we purchased it from (not lexus).

I've been driving the car for 4 months w/o any issues until this weird key situation. So, I got home about 20 mins ago and shut the car off. Now it works with MY KEY. Could it be my key or is it a sign of things to come with my damn car?!

IS300 Keys are chipped with a transponder or whatever it is called.

Was the key you purchased on ebay OEM lexus key or the bootleg key ?

Not an OEM key and it doesnt say lexus. I'm guessing they got it from their locksmith who does this often for the dealer.
It's been working since Feb when we bought the car. The buttons to the trunk and door locks worked and i thought maybe the car was still in some sort of locking mode.
Until I put in her key did the car start. I got home and my key seems to be working now. very odd.

i think i need to invest in an OEM lexus key

It's funny how the criminal business nets it's participants easy money, but the legitimate businesses as well. And in the end, if the criminal truly wants the car, it will be theirs. The legitimate business makes the money either way. Who are truly the crooks, hmm?

I didnt go, the dealer must have these keys in bulk or the locksmith does and he programs it accordingly. Go figure because I wanted some more keys made and all locksmiths i called said they dont do lexuses.
