Anyone have a Karaoke machine? School me on MP3G files.

My parents got my kids a Karaoke machine for Christmas. The music that shipped with the thing is pretty lame. It's all nursery rhymes and hymns with a few Christmas songs mixed in.

I don't want to download illegal stuff, but don't want to pay through the nose for music no one cares about. Is there a way to make those files easily or a place you can download them for use in these little machines?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge to share on the topic.

Who ever invented karaoke should have all the skin stripped from their body, then rolled in salt before being thrown screaming into an erupting volcano.

My kids aren't even Japanese! I figure though, if I can at least get a few Hank Williams, Jr and David Allen Coe songs, I can wreck their aspirations of being better than me when they grow up.

Does the mfgs website have any info on where to get files?
They just have links to this site: https://www.partytyme.net/songshop/cat/?merchant=93

I'll see what it takes to convert existing music I own using software. I also have a few friends of mine that used to do this as a side gig for parties and shows. I know one of them paid a website for youtube style access on demand and just used a laptop and a PA/mixer setup. The other one may have discs of the file formats I'm looking for, it would just be older 60s/70s/80s/90s music. My kids don't listen to pop music yet, so who knows what they'll want to sing to.

Sounds like the "G" is graphics, and probably used to sync displayed lyrics with the music. Sounds like a lot of work to roll your own that'll work with your hardware. If I were starting from scratch, I'd probably try to hack something together with vlc and subtitles.
