I recently bought a 1998 Hyundai Elantra, got about 25k miles on it. It drives pretty nice. Anyone else have this car? Hyundai cars used to suck till about 96 from what i've heard.

I have a 2000 Tiburon. It runs great. I think that they got tired of the bad reputation and started making decent cars...

powerful? It's a 4-banger so it's nothing in comparison to a V-6. I like it and it does run fairly smooth. This past summer, I drove it to see my mom in Northern Indiana from Southern Louisiana in one day. It did not give me any problems. I was getting almost 32 miles/gallon.

I likes it :)

ah, thats good. I used to have a 92 mazda protege, and its somewhat more powerful compared to that. The engine's pretty quiet too, and the ride is pretty good. Nice fuel efficiency, i get about 25-26 mpg, but thats probably because my driving isnt all highway.

Wonder how it compares to an Acura Integra.

I would love a Tiburon. That's the only Hyundai I'd get. First off, need a job to get the car. Then sell my current car to partially pay for a new one...

It's a great car. My only complaint is some noice from the hatchback. I have a good friend that buys/sells Vipers and he drove my car. He thinks that they are cool little cars. He said he would like to have one...

I have a '98 Elantra GLE wagon which I got new (42K miles now). It has the more powerful of the two engines available on this model - I believe it's 1.8L 140HP. The car is quite good compared to previous Hyundais. However I find the ride to be noisy and my wife always complains about the low gas mileage! She used to have a '95 Nissan Sentra which was a miser as far as gas was concerned. I've also had to have the transmission (auto) fixed twice at 15K and 30K because it was slipping. Luckily it was covered by the warranty. However if it goes again, I'm thinking of getting rid of the car. However I've spoken to other Elantra owners and no one has had this problem.

You wanna talk about bad gas mileage? I've got my mother's '00 imprezza sport wagon and I'm getting 17 mpg city. Yes you read it right. 17 fvcking mpg. I don't drive like a maniac either...I'm thinking of calling up subaru on monday to see what they have to say for themselves.

Sister's second cousin's roomate's brother....

j/k. I just had to.

I used to rally race a 94 Hyundai Scoupe. Not a really great car by any means, but good for a fun little beater that was kinda competative at the time.

The Tiburon will do a 8.1 sec. 0-60 and a skidpad of 0.84. Not world class by any means, but pretty amazing for the $15k sticker price.

for all you hyundai owners in the 90's, i had a 1987 hyundai excel GLS!!! whoooooohooooo....full option mind you with my double digit horse power. it was a slow clunker but since my cousin is a mechanic, it ran better than my friends civic. if you take care of it no matter what kind of car it is, it will run fine. did i mention i had air conditioning and mag wheels!!??

I'm game for hyundais. I drove one that used to be my sister's until recently, and it was a '90 Hyundai Excel. That little turd, even though highly out of shape, still got 33mpg with over 100k miles on it. I'm impressed. (The downfall: when on windy interstate roads in MT, you feel as though you're going to take off or snap like a rubber band)
