anyone have a hamster as a pet?

I used to breed them. They don't stink and they are a ton of fun if they are taken well care of. But if you don't think you'll be able to commit 30 minutes every other day to cleaning their cage you're in for an unpleasant experience.

Yeah, I had one once.

It was fine, unless you tried to stick your hand down in the cage to take him out...he'd bite the crap out of your hand every time.

And even with cleaning the cage out two times a week, he stunk. He'd climb up in the habitrails and urinate through the air holes, causing pee to leak down on whatever the cage was sitting on.

AND, every time you took him out to walk on the floor or what not, he'd drop AT LEAST two turds for every step he took.

Stinking rodent. Ended up giving him to my brother....bwhahahaha....he learned the hard way.

I used to, until I fried it and ate it.

It was pretty good.

That's guinea pigs, f00, and they're too greasy for my liking, plus you get NO meat.

Yes, I know from experience.

I had one in a college dorm, didn't smell, was definitely fun to play with while intoxicated. Cleaning wasn't so bad. I had to let him go in Union Square Park though - I thought his freedom would be better than a return to the Petco on 17th Street. I think I made the wrong decision; that night it rained buckets, I doubt he made it.
RIP.

Had some "pet" rats until a couple days ago...
First, the stupid mechanical traps didn't work.
I tried for about 2 weeks.
Then, I wasted 10 bucks on those sticky traps. Again, no success.

Finally, I resorted to poison. They started crawling out of their hiding places in the barn during the last 3 days. I haven't seen any of them left alive.

that is disgustingly cruel. a hamster would have zero percent chance of surviving in an urban park area. wht kind of callous moron are you? you should get 6-12 months jail for animal cruelty.

i had some when i was younger...i suggest getting dwarf hampsters...doesnt make you bleed when they bite... plus they arent as smselly. clean their cage and they wont stink. they arent fun to play with though...not fun to watch either...i sold mine for a boogie board, lol

Hamsters stay awake at night, chewing and running all night long. They start to smell after a while, and enjoy to piss off the side of their homes.
