I am thinking of buying a GPS plugin for my Visor Deluxe, probably the Magellan one.

Just wondered if they are actually any good, how accurate, useful etc...
They claim accuracy within 15 feet

I was looking at the conventional GPS systems, but I have no use for one. I've got some friends that live in Cairo that use theirs all the time. They camp in the desert where things tend to look the same. They'll use it to help guide them back to the same site every year to do archeological digs and so forth...Pretty cool device (theirs is made by Magellan also).

I've got the Sony etek one. It comes with proprietary custom PC software, and it outputs the GPS stuff in a different format than the standard GPS systems...so "supposedly" it won't work with palm's and the such. Well leave it to Sony, but there's a little switch at the end of the PCMCIA card to select from eTek or Standard GPS signalling. Works fine for me, and it was only $99! :) I think I found it with mySimon.com...maybe.
