*sigh*

Family member pretty much sits in a dark room all day listening to people shouting. Doesn't have much in way of friends, and I'm pretty sure that the talk radio is for him a form of friendship that he is simply unable to do.

why is this a problem for you?

unless its enabling him to become agoraphobic I don't see the harm in him getting enjoyment from talk radio.

I really like Bob&Tom and NPR

Alex Jones rules.

He knows what's really wrong with the world and he also knows that the only way to fix it is to buy the products he advertises and promote his show.

is it that much worse than sitting in front of a computer and 'chatting' on internet forums?

I sometimes do both, in a dark room, alone. Does coasttocoastam count as talk radio?

And get this, sometimes I may even laugh to myself OUTLOUD while I'm listening to it, or reading something or typing away. And what if I mutter out loud an occasional obscenity or 2 when I get really pissed off about something. Does that count as talking to myself? How about when I talk to my pets, because obviously they have pretty much no idea what I am saying, much like talking to baby is pretty pointless, too. Does that count as being cray cray, too?

This topic is now officially about talking out loud and typing to yourself on the internets and if you think you are cray cray for doing it.

I know I am.

I love talk radio.

I mainly listen to sports and NPR.
Every now an then I will throw in some Rush or some other conservative crackpot just for fun.

I spend my whole day on AT forums watching people denigrate each other.

He has the life he wants. Just because it's not the life YOU want, doesn't make it bad or wrong for HIM.

What's wrong with your life, that you want to focus on what's wrong with HIS?

You've been a member for about 5 months & already have over 1000 posts & you are worried about your family member?

Talk radio seems to infect people after the age of 50 or so. Not sure why.

All of it seems to be a bunch of people over thinking every possible political situation until some absolutely ludicrous result is deduced. I overheard one moron the other day talking about how Obama has an agenda against flower growers to funnel money to arms dealers supplying weapons to rebels. WTF???

I'm 34 and I listen to more talk radio than musci radio.

I don't care frankly for top 40 bullshit, or Nicki Minaj.

Is this somehow "bad"? Not all talk radio is even shock jocks or Christian wackos. So yeah, your relative is "weird" for listening to breakfast shows, drivetimes, and relationships and dating shows. haha...

You know there are a wide range of radio stations...some play classic rock, hard rock, blues, country, rap...you'd be surprised!

I would not say they are "really into talk radio", but, for as long as I can remember, they listen to only talk radio in the car (unless one of us kids put it on music).

They even would find the talk radio station in other cities when we travelled.

They do not listen to the radio at home.

Currently I don't listen to talk radio much because of all the indoors distractions of the big screen, tv, and games. But I sure did listen to lots of talk radio when I was a courier driving my own car several years ago. Listened to both sides, some conservative talk shows (Hannity and Rush) and a couple lib ones like Al Franken and Randi Rhodes. Now I feel I just don't have the time except for the tv like CNN, Fox News and NBC.
