"Signal amplifier"

If you put one on the line, do it BEFORE the splitter. Otherwise you're just amplifying a degraded signal.

I too have an Electroline "Active Return" amp.

I got it new off ebay for $70, but I must have spent a month bidding on like 20 different auctions before I got it for that price.

If you're splitting your signal (or the cable company is because they're lazy) they can really improve your picture. We had like 3 boosters set up in my old fraternity splitting one signal between like 20 rooms. Ahhhhh....good times.

Several years ago I installed a Radio Shack booster in my brothers apartment & it not only improved his crappy picture quality but seemed to increase his internet performance too... I believe I got it as a clearence item for about $35.

I picked one up for $37. Looks like a spliter that has a low voltage adapter. Seemed to help quite a bit. I do have 1 channel that has light horizontal bars rolling up the screen though.

I don't know, I've tried two different $100-some 8-way signal amplifier, and both introduced so much static into the tv signal it was unbearable to watch. I'm glad I got my money back and am just using a generic Radioshack 8-way passive splitter.

(I'm referring to the analog cable channels, amplifiers I guess may work better on digital channels?)

Cablevision told me that I needed a booster for the home and I had it installed by them.

It cost me $15
