Anyone have a 2005fpw on a Radeon Mobility 9600?

I usually have my monitor plugged into my desktop, but I have used my laptop with it a few times.

It is a Compaq NC6000 with a 64MB Radeon Mobility 9600, and I'm using Catalyst 4.12 (via mobility modder). However, even with the dell inf (ie, it says Dell 2005fpw), I can only run the card at 1680x1050 in 16 bit color! My desktop (6800) does this at the proper 32 bit.

Any ideas? Some issue w/the Catalysts or something?
