Anyone have a 16X9 LCD monitor? Like the Samsung 172W?

How do you like it?

My laptop screen isn't quite 16:9, but I like it. One thing that sucks is some games don't support widescreen resolutions so everything gets stretched.

the samsung 172w is actualy 16:10, I don't know if that makes a difference to you

It seems that while most widescreen tv's are actually 16:9. I believe that most widescreen monitors are 16:10.

Just another annoying little disparity that makes us perfectionists go crazy.

I have one as my secondary monitor, and its great. Its hooked up to a matrox G450 PCI card and it runs all my dvd movies.

Honestly I would never use it as a prmary display but as a secondary, its very cool.

the resolutiuon is too low for me. I need at least 1280x1024 as my native resolution on my primary display for browing, and other work I do.

As for gaming, I tried serious sam on the 172x and connected it to my 9700pro. The game supports wide aspect ratios and the response time is really good on it. I believe its 22-23 milliseconds.

I just don't like to see my webpages cut off with a 1280x768 resolution. I believe this monitor is 16x9

most displays that are 1280x800 are 16x10

Sorry, you're right, its not actually 16:10, but I think it is inbetween 16:9 and 16:10
16:9=1280x720
16:10=1280x800

172W=1280x768

Samsung probably did that so that you could line it up with a 15" monitor at 1024x768
