i have one. i like it except the camera takes bad quality shots. i don't use the bluetooth or the transflash, so i can't comment on those parts.

is the software slow? i have the v400 and it looks like the v710 uses the same software.

i own it, i like it. feature-rich, good reception, bluetooth headset (hs810) works great, transflash works great also for transferring music, movies and pictures.

edit: and the software is very responsive.

You have Verizon? They offer early upgrade after 1 year if you're on a $50 or higher plan at their official stores.

You must have Verizon then. I was going to go with them and this phone until I found out that they own you for 2 years. I still may, as their coverage just owns Cingular's.

I want this phone because it has bluetooth. Has anyone here use it?

only on the headset. a lot of file transfer protocols were locked out by verizon, but from my understanding that should be rectified in the next firmware release. all rumors and speculation in the meantime. but transflash does a good job of transferring stuff over, just wish they opened up the bluetooth profile to sync up contact book data. but the bluetooth can be used to connect to the express network via a pda or laptop.

Motorola admitted 2 days ago that there is a problem with the camera. They are only recalling the unpurchased ones in the channels. The sold ones will not be recalled.

The 710 is pretty much garbage. The functionality of the phone is pretty much the best you're going to get on Verizon but the fact that the phone destroys itself is what makes it garbage. The keys scratch the screen because they touch when the phone is closed. The black part above the camera gets scratches because it slides against the hinge. And the keypad gets loose after only a few days of use. So basically, even if you baby your electronics like I do, the phone will look like crap after only a few days. That is unacceptable to me. I've had almost every phone every released for Verizon and I was terribly disappointed with the 710. I think a lot of people give it a free pass since it's got bluetooth and it's the only option on Verizon with that functionality...but even the bluetooth is crippled. You can't send things to and from the phone...WTF is that about?

This phone sucks. I got it, then returned it and ditched Verizon after they gave me some trouble.

The features of the phone advertised simply do not work as they should to justify the price. The "bluetooth" is next to worthless, since you can't transfer files or sync your addressbook. The "1.2MP camera" is worse than the camera on any other phone I've seen, including the v600 I went with eventually; the v710 can't take pictures except in the brightest lit conditions. The phone is larger and bulkier, and for what reason? The v600 does all the v710 was supposed to do (except video) and is almost as small as my old v60. If I was going to stick with Verizon, I would have just picked up a cheaper phone. The v710 is not worthwhile.

there's good batches of the phone and there's a bad batch (loose keypad, bad earpiece volume, camera display is dark/grainy). so far, ive been lucky. i havent had any of these problems that others online are having. sure, the camera isnt the greatest, but then again, im not expecting excellent digital pics from a cell phone. especially since i own a digital camera. its more of a novelty to me than anything else. ive only used it a few times right after i got the phone. in fact, i would have been happier if it didnt have a camera, but then again, if i get side-swipped or something, it may come in handy then.
