Oh, yeah, they do double the cashback for Staples. Say you have $20 cashback. You can instead get a $40 off $40 coupon for Staples.
 
when i say discover card gives you free money in essence i mean:

for all the normal spending people do (online at newegg, out at staples, groceries, gas, etc.), whether you're a big spender or not, you earn money (i.e. cashback) on all your purchases.

you don't earn anything on the money you spend by using most other credit cards, or cash for that matter
 
The double-your-bonus is nice, but the Staples certificate says you can only use one per purchase. So you're limited to a $40 redemption at a time.
