is there any reason why a Discover card is preferable to Visa or Master?

I can understand why ppl would not use an American Express coz of its limited avaiablity. But Discover is accepted at less store than Visa and Master too, so what's the incentive?

i like their website interface when ur accessing the account, plus they make it real easy to pay online... i've tried others and it's just 5% more troublesome than discover's.

pluses: cashback, good online services, one-time use numbers for online purchases, good customer service.
minuses: retarded mini card they try to send you, irritating security policies

Yeah, they have a really easy to navigate web site. I've had no problems with Discover. Good customer service.

Cash back is nice, its not alot but it adds up at the end of the year.

Also I know that the big grocery stores around me, will let you take up $50 cash along with the purchase.

ie.

say you buy a bottle of water for $1.07
you ask the cashier for $50 over.
the cashier will charge $51.07 to your Discover and hand you $50 cash.

oh, I did NOT know there's a Cashback reward for Discover users... thank guys. I applied it for the heck of it and didn't even realize it has such reward.

all these time I was swiping my other Chase master card like mad coz I can earn points towards my next 40 lb of Omaha steak and a 50 buck gift cert at some bookstore in Brooklyn.

theres every reason in the world you should carry a discover card

1. you're a member of AT. that means u buy stuff online at newegg. discover is the most common online credit card AFAIK
2. cash back is obviously the best reason
3. their online payment methods and login interface is great

I had one. They are annoying too. They mail you crap all the time and call to annoy you.

Have had one since the first day of issue (they were SEARS before that and I got it automatically )and to date Ive had no complaint or problems with them. Any problems I did have were resolved with one phone call and not their fault.
I put $200 to $1000 through them every month.

Rates may be higher but I dont care as I pay off ANY credit card bill when it comes so I never pay interest or a yearly card charge. If I cant afford the item, I dont spend the money.

I have both Amex Blue and a Discover, and I use my Amex more. Right now my Discover doesn't have a balance on it, and hasn't for a few months.

Wrong. Per Visa:
Visa cards are the world's most widely used form of "plastic" payment. As of December 2000, more than $1.8 trillion in products and services were purchased using Visa cards, and Visa's worldwide market share, at 60 percent, was greater than that of all other major payment cards combined. There are more than 1 billion Visa, Visa Electron, Interlink, PLUS, and Visa Cash cards in the market today. Visa-branded cards are accepted at more than 28 million locations in 144 countries, making Visa the closest thing there is to a universal currency.
I doubt that with 60% of the market share, people would just happen to use Discover only online.

I have an AMEX, and while it's taken in less places than Visa, Discover is less accepted than ever AMEX. For that reason, I decided to go with AMEX.

I use their "Discover Deskshop" application for almost ALL my online purchases.

It generates a "one-time" use number for that browser transaction only. This way no website ever gets your "REAL" credit card number.

You can download it from their website
