Anyone has a Dell 2408WFP with the flashing (going into standy mode) issue?

Apparently this model (whether version A00, A01, A02) has this huge issue. With some video cards the issue exist, others vid cards are fine. The crux of the issue is that the Dell is programed to go into into power saving mode if it does not detect a video signal with a period of 150 ms. A Dell rep in one of the Dell forums said that "newer revision" should address this issue by extending the "no signal until OFF" time to 250 ms.

Apparently I tried a newer video card and I not get this problem! Damn it it looks like I will be going back to my old video card. It seems that older video cards with the VGA connection (along with DVI) seem to work better with this monitor than newer video cards with only DVI and HDMI outputs.

Hmm this has put a bitter taste in my mouth regarding Dell.

on the back of the monitor should have the revision. It's either a00, a01, or a02.

i had the old 4870 and that caused the monitor to flash too. However, my current crappy card Nvidia 8400 GS works perfectly with it! go figure.

Here's a thread on this issue over at the Dell forum

My next monitor will not be a Dell that's for sure.

So wait, they acknowledged the problem and they're replacing them? Why would that make you think negatively of Dell? It sounds like the right thing to do.

^ they acknowledged the problem after much ballywhoo, and then replaced because customers bitched about it (the phone techs aren't aware of the issue like the online forum tech who's more knowledgeable). But only the "newer" A02 (not refurb A02) ever got the correct firmware on them. Reburbished A02 still got the faulty firmware (apparently the refurb center doesn't flash firmware, it seems). I got mine RMA'd once, and the issue is still happening. One of the posters said he got his RMA 4 times and still he's seeing the same issue. If you send in one for RMA, chances are you will get a refurb. So at this point, I don't want to risk any chance and send it in for another refurb and possible get a new problem, like dead pixels. At least with the current one I have, the picture quality and pixels are prefect. It's not a big loss for me to use the crappy Nv 8400 GS versus the ATI 4870.

I can only guess that either Dell does not do enough testing with this monitor, or that there is a loose standard between monitor power saving mode and different video cards.
