I know CDs are digital but can they last "forever"?
I'm thinking I either use da low quality CD or some adaptec crap in the early days and that's why I can't read some of my old CDs anymore (even with the corredt DIRECTCD or other drivers installeD) and once I do that, they dont read in any PC. Can CDs DIE!?

The answer, quite simply, is yes, they can die. Burned CD's are not quite the same as retail CD's. My old music CD's dont work in my minisystem anymore, but they DO work in my portable CD player. Cheapo CDs die, and its only a matter of time.

On another note. Current DirectCD doesnt read older DirectCD formats, and thats probably your big problem.
