Anyone had problems running dnet on ME setup

Installed the client on a friends machine (WIN-ME OS) a while back but was in a hurry, anyway went by yesterday and he said was not working, I checked and dnet was in the startup folder but no cow in tray, so I went to the RC5 folder and clicked the executable and nothing would happen as if it were already running. So then I checked to see what apps were running ctrl+alt+del and dnet was not there. So I deleted the rc5 folder and did an install again same problem still. He has that damn Norton suite running at startup, do you think it is interfering with dnet.I am guessing that the latest win 32 client will work with ME.

Help!!!!! I need this 950 Athlon crackin for us

What version of the client is it? v2.8010.463 works on my WinME setup but v2.8012.466 gives me constant BSODs. Also, you didn't install it as a service, did you?

Will have to look up the version # that could be it. No I installed the client version I thought .😱 and it works fine on all the win98 machines i have put it on

To check for a running client, I also look at the installation folder. Once there, look at file dates and output buffer sizes. If the dates are all current, then it has been or is running. The log file also shows activity. Keep in mind that the client has always been designed to be a background application. It is sometimes elusive. As elusive as a cow can be, anyway.

Mooooooo !

Ok I downloaded the older client version and got it on cdrom along with the ini I have configured. I will go try this one and report my results later, thanks guys.

LOL you should see this sys tray though, Gator...aol...netsonic...norton...and a few others.. not sure if there is room for a cow in there. I may need to hide it so he does not screw with it LOL.

Make sure that it has work to do. If you are running OGR only and buff-in.OGR is empty, the client will just exit. If you are running RC5 and have
[misc]
project-priority=DES=0,CSC=0,OGR,RC5
run-work-limit=-1

the client will just exit when it has no RC5 work.
