I got a reminder yesterday about how I haven't backed up my computer in XX days, so I decided to oblige Time Machine and make a backup. Too bad the process stalled at 18.3 out of 18.7 gb transferred. I couldn't shut down Time Machine simply though, and my whole machine became non-responsive. So I restarted it, and it never came back on.
Now, the hard drive hadn't failed necessarily because the startup disk showed up when I brought up that screen. But in verifying the disk, I got an unrepairable problem with that disk. So I'm having to restore from a 3 month old backup. Oh well.
I'm wondering if this is a problem with Time Machine and infrequent backups or just a stroke of bad luck? I've been having enough problems with this Macbook lately, and I'd just like to know what's broken, whether it be software or the end user.
