Mine now makes this really ANNOYING high pitched whine. I've had it for almost a year now, and don't see why this just cropped up. I'm afraid to turn it on now :eek:

i've had that happen, expect a lot of bad sectors to appear because the heads of your hd are scratching the platters. take that sucka back.

:eek: I threw away the receipt from Best Buy. I don't know if they'll take it. It's not like i have the original packaging anyhow. I'm contacting WD. They were closed today when I called, so i'll try again tomorrow. I still don't see why this would happen all of a sudden? :confused:

Did you pay with a credit card? If yes, call your CC company and have them send you the summary from the month you bought it (if you don't already have it).

Oh, I have the CC summary and what not. I threw away the receipt because I figured it wasn't going to break or anything since I had had it for a few months at that point in time.
