Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with either. I saw that the Iiyama monitors and heard they are supposed to be good for gaming. I also was reading some reviews on the BenQ 19" monitor on newegg and people seem to love it, and its a good price. Or has anyone used the 19" dell monitor? I just want to know which one I should get, I am mainly going for a 19" one that I can use for my 3d graphical design programs, sugh as maya.

i've had a benq fp737s. only thing i had a beef with was when it's in standby or even turned off, there is a loud high frequency noise coming out of it. it's so loud that if you keep it the room you sleep in (like i do) it'll keep you up at night.

only way around it was to unplug it and then the noise goes away. at first i thought it was the particular monitor, so i took it back and got a replacement. the replacement did the exact same thing and i'm probably not going to get benq again.

how was the quality of the monitor though, aside from that gripe? did gaming work for it too?

I'm using 3 Benqs with no problems. I have the 17" FP767s Rev. 2 as my primary and 2 15" FP567s as secondary and trinary.

Plays games great.

yes, im using the fp736s now, its great for gaming, the only thing wrong is of course one dead pixel though i dont notice it in gaming or alike only when you look had enough. this will happen to alot of lcd moniters though.

itll all be solved when OLED moniters hit the streets

I personally own a FP731 from benQ off Newegg, the 17". Quality is spectacular, and there's no external power brick to have lying around which is a big plus :)
Ive used 3 of them for people Ive built PC's for, and EVERYONE has loved them to death and been very impressed by them.

I also like the thin bezel, makes it look expensive :)

As for the whining noise lazyboy commented on, I havent personally seen that, although most of the time on my own machine when Im not using the monitor I turn off the power to it completely via a surge protector with multiple front-mounted switches on top of which my monitor sits.

You guys sure are making me want to go with benq :)

However has anyone used the 19" BenQ because the response time on it is 25ms and not 16ms like the 17" ones. I also might want to just spend the extra $$$ and get the 20" Dell, but I still am debating.

if you game, then definatly get one with 16ms. there's no comparison between 16ms and 25ms if you're a big FPS or racing game person.

when Im not using the monitor I turn off the power to it completely via a surge protector with multiple front-mounted switches on top of which my monitor sits.

yeh i did that too, i had a powerboard with a master switch and i used that to turn it off to stop it making the noise. it got on my nerves that i have to do this and the samsung 172x was just so much better looking and even faster. paid a bit more, got a bit more :)

my iiyama prolite e431s just came in today. i'm really happy with it. Its much brighter than i thought it would be. Default settings need a bit of tweaking but its not hard.

No ghosting in UT 2k4 or my slower paced MMO's that i can tell, althought other people's eyes may be more picky than mine, and finding nemo looks wonderful :)

mine arrived with no dead pixels from newegg.
