I have a large ganglion cyst on my inner ankle (which I ignord for about 2 years, dumb me) and now it's hardened up over time to the point that it is compressing my neuro-pathway. It's somewhat painful and I've had persistant numbness/tinglies across the sole of my foot and my 1st two toes for about 3 months now. My doc believes it is causing me tarsal tunnel syndrome.
After 3 failed attemps at aspiration and no response from corticosteriod injections, the specialist I'm seeing wants to surgically remove it.
Has anyone had a similar foot/ankle surgery? What should I expect as far the procedure, anesthesia (either a 3 way or femoral block combined with a sedative), recovery, etc.?
I've never had a surgery performed (other than wisdom teeth removed) so I'm pretty nervous.
Thanks,
JR..
