Anyone had a floater in their eye?

So I got popped outside the head last weekend and I've developed a floater in my left eye. I went to the opto yesterday and there is no damage to the retina or the optic nerve. He says the floater will eventually settle outside the line of vision. In the mean time, it's incredibly annoying. Fortunately, I can't tell its there in dim light.

Anyone had any experiences with floaters?

Yea, they're very common. I had one for about 6 months, drove me crazy when looking at a computer screen. Haven't seen it for a while, seems to be "settled".

it took six months??? did it gradually fade where you saw it less and less everyday? Was yours a result of head trauma?

I went to the opt and requested surgery on it ASAP (very experimental) and he says no. It's only been 3 days from the injury and there is no damage to the retina so he doesn't want to do it.

No way I would want surgery on my eyes for something that's "annoying". Life-threatening, potential cause of blindness... yes. If not a serious issue, no.

I've had floaters, BTW.

I get little red floaties all the time. There are usually at least twenty when they pop up. Its almost always when I'm tired.

I get a floater every once in a couple months. I'll see it for maybe a few seconds and then it floats out of view. It's been a while, I think I'm due for one soon.

Surgical correction for floaters is likely to cause cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachments, and lots of other fun things. I wouldn't recommend it.

Just a little spot in your field of vision, or something bigger?
Pic.

I've had those for as long as I can remember. Right now I've got several small things lightly visible over my monitor.

I have floaters every once in awhile just for a few seconds when I'm tired. To be honest I didn't even know there was a name for them before I read this?

As someone you has recently undergone eye surgery, you are absolutely insane for wanting to get rid of something that minor that will go away with time. Like I call you an idiot IRL and punch you in the nuts.

I've had a floater since Highschool, so about 8+ years now. It has never "settled" really. I don't notice it most of the time but then randomly it will show up again, usually when I'm looking up at something or at something that is one solid color I will notice it briefly.

I wouldn't mind if it occasional but for the time being, it see it every second except in low light situations. The fact that you only randomly notice it means that it has settled.

I've had them for quite a while. They're annoying. Mine remind me of plankton though.
