Anyone had a colonoscopy?

I have to have one on Friday and just wondering what to expect.

How long does the procedure take?

How long until the anestesia (sp?) wears off?

How long until I find out some results?

sorry, that was a little insensitive. don't sweat it, the procedure itself doesn't take too long but i'm not sure how long the anesthetic lasts. just be damn glad you have it. actually, you're semi-conscious the whole time. you even get to watch the monitor! (though you won't remember anything)
have fun! 😀

My dad had one two years ago i think. He found out that day that he had cancer after some more tests. Now, he's been fine for quite a while. Definitely worth the uncomfort of the test to find out IMO

My dad had one recently. A lotta jello and laxatives were in order. The procedure I guess took under an hour. He was on full anasthesia (sp?) and was kinda groggy but was fine at the end of the day. I think they can tell if there are tumors right away. If they're polyps like my dad had, they'll have to send it away to get tested.

i had one like about a year ago, the worst partwas having to not eat anything solid for like 2 - 3 days prior and then the day of having to drink a freaking GALLON of medicine in an hour( to clear my system), that was the sickest thing ive ever had. i dont know if you have to do all that. My colonoscopy was to get a biopsy of the villi's on my intestine. As for the procedure itself, i dont really remember much of it, they completely knocked me out. I do remember afterwards I was kept in a room with other patients who had air pumped into theyre digestive systems i think and they were farting like crazy. Hopefully i wont have to have one again. Endoscopy's are much better.
