Anyone got to play with the BlackBerry Tour 9630 yet? It looks really good and I was originally going to get the Curve 8330 since it's cheap now but the Tour is just so much better in every way and I'm willing to pay the large difference.. I hate sliding keyboard cus they get so flimsy after a while. I'm with Sprint BTW.

Seen and prodded plenty, most of them have been in cloaking skins, but it's a solid device. It's supposed to slot in between the 89xx and the Bold, but IMHO it's a great replacement for the Bold.

I have to wait for the cable man all morning, but as soon as he's done, I am hauling ass over to the Verizon store immediately, and that has nothing to do with the Hooters next door.

just got one in here at work.
VERY nice, high quality, well built, feels great in the hand (unlike the palm pre).
full browser, although a bit hard to browse because of the smaller screen. text not legible until zooming in once or twice.
keyboard is great, has good soft touch keys, with good feedback.
interface is basically like the bold, so if u've used one of those, you'll be right at home with this one.
debating between this and the storm2.

in summary, best blackberry yet.

Today is a bad, bad day.

No Tour at the local Verizon. They have about a dozen posters for it, but the phone is not in yet. They said maybe tomorrow.

Hooters girls were unusually mean and cold. I have no idea what set them off. I havent even been in there in a month. Maybe that theory about menstrual cycles syncing up is true.

It's true (I'm a nurse and just freaking cower for a few days a month), but they usually cycle around the 1st of the month. Something else set them off, one of them got dumped, someone's pregnant, got fired or something...

Got mine in the mail last night. Loving it so far, no problems whatsoever and it's very fast.

I got mine yesterday. Took eight hours on the phone to get the data working but I am liking it so far. It is my first blackberry coming from many years of windows mobile use. It has been quite an adjustment but I am loving it so far. Contrary to what I thought going in the I can get things done much faster with it than I could with a touch screen. The biggest adjustment is the size of it. Coming from a Diamond the thing seems downright huge. I just installed a few apps and will get to play around some more at lunch tomorrow.

Oh, one other thing. Instant push gmail is FREAKING AWESOME. Even better is I can delete of the server which I could never get to work on WM. My bill went up about $40 a month(that will also cover BB services for the one my wife has one the way as well, 1600 minutes unlimited everything else for $110 w/Sprint, had two SERO plans previously) but it is going to be entirely worth it.

Haven't played around too much yet, but have Pandora, Opera, google maps/mail... any suggestion on a weather program or a yellowpages type program?

Poynt is an awesome app. Use it for looking up nearby businesses/restaurants. mypoynt.com

BerryWeather is a good weather app but I think it's $10. weather.com on my BB browser works for me :p.

I believe WeatherBug is free.

In a round-about way I might be doing that soon. Got my mom a Curve and was able to play with it for a day before I gave it to her.
Will probably be getting the Tour for myself very soon. Had a chance to play with it at the store and was very impressed. So far as I can tell it does everything the Bold does and has a better screen/interface.

Best bet is to go to PhoneScoop and do a comparison. If there is anything you specifically need or dont need you'll find out.
Looking at Verizon Online they have both the camera and non-camera versions available.

I bought a brand new curve 3-4 months ago or something like that and just upgraded to the Tour. Curve was great but the Tour is a very solid phone right out of the gate. It will only get better.

I have now bought two more blackberry's. Once I got my Tour and my wife saw what it could do, mainly the push email, she just had to have one herself. She isn't up for an upgrade so it had to be an 8830. She wanted an 8830M for the MMS but we couldn't find one at what we wanted to pay so I bought a vanilla 8830 last night. Browsing the forums tonight I found an 8830M at the same price so now we have two coming. I went from never owning a blackberry to buying three in five days.

VZW swapped my Storm for a Tour and I couldn't be happier. Typing on this things an absolute joy compared to both the Storm and the Pre, which I had for 4 days.

Tour Vs Storm:
+better battery life
+ighter
+grippier
+MUCH faster
+110 MB vs 30 MB startup w/ same apps
+hotkeys (b for bottom when browsing, q for vib on/off, $ for speakerphone on/off)
+better vib
+NO LAG!!!
-retarded USB location, haha
-screen ripples when touching top row buttons
-too hard to read opera mini, must use Bolt which is slower

Tour Vs Pre:
+MUCH better build quality
+screen looks normal though polarized lenses
+better email
+apps load faster
+better voice quality
-no wifi
-lame browser compared to webkit
-webOS messaging put bb to shame!

I haven't seen Viigo or Podtrapper mentioned yet. Viigo's completely replaced browsing 10 different sites with it awesome RSS reader. Podtrapper's $10, but you can get a trial on app world. It will download and manage all ur podcasts via cell network and has loads of options. That's right, no more iTunes crap!

Also, I typed this whole thing up on the Tour. That would have never happened on the Storm or Pre. Coupled with Verizon I get service everywhere in the valley. And I mean 3G data, not just roaming because I went in a bowling alley. I'm loking at you Sprint Pre Oreo cookie pos midget jelly keypad! While I'm at it, eat it Storm! I'm so done with 1.0 phones, yuck!

Oh, did I mention how fast the OS is? What about the rad keyboard? Ok, good.

I don't care for Viigo. It slowed my whole phone down and doesn't update feeds correctly even though it is set in the options. Even when I manually update it its not updating some of them.

I did have Viigo flip out once and only update a small % of feeds. But it hauls balls on the Tour with no problems.

Then again, this thing runs like a champ compared to the Storm.
