anyone got tips for buying jewelry on-line?

I am looking at buying some diamond stud earrings for the wifey. Anyone want to recommend a site, or give advice about buying this sort of thing on line?

Go with Blue Nile.

http://www.bluenile.com

I bought an engagement ring there. It was much less expensive than buying from a jeweler and much better quality. (Even the jewler I bought the ring to, to have it resized, was impressed with the diamond).

Ive used

ice.com

Decent place to find a good present like a necklace/earings set or something along those lines. Rings eh I'd try the above blue nile isn't bad but to me those are harder to shop for. BUT ice offers monthly payments which is a plus around xmas time and BOTH offer $ cashback from FW........

Seems like you cant create a pair of diamond studs for less than 1,250$. Thats a bit outta my league 🙁

yeah me too, though they have premade earrings for less.

thanks for the links everyone.

🙂

generally for studs, especially those up to a carat in total weight (meaning each stud will be 1/2 a carat) you can be safe going anywhere local (Macy's, Filenes, Zales...etc) as long as you look at the stone and it appears good and the price is right. However if you are insistant on shopping online then bluenile is one of the best however they are expensive....good luck

Chances of getting pawned, dont do it

A few of my coworkers bought online, bluenile and whiteflash, but opt'd for the b&m store. You can actually save a good amt. if you get it from bluenile. There's a 10%+250 off coupon floating around (pm if you need one I might still have it) and there's not tax.

I was not able to get the online prices at b&m, but I just liked seeing what I'm buying. Bluenile also has a good 30day money back guranteed if you're a little weary about it.

pricescope.com and diamondtalk.com are good website.

I just checked the prices on Bluenile.com for a 1/2 carat diamond bezel set pendant (something I got my wife for an anniversary gift just two months ago) and their product was only $35 more than what I paid from my local jeweler and I believe the diamond they offered was .01 larger so all in all I would say they offer a very fair price, heck I am tempted to buy from them next time instead of my local guy as with him I have to go into the city and it is a royal pita, bluenile's products look very good (I ordered some cufflinks from them as groomsmens gifts and they were top notch) and the price is IMHO more than fair.
