Anyone got those usenetserver IPs?

I formatted and lost the individual server IPs. And without them, using news.usenetserver.com is unbearably slow.

If you don't have the magic IP list, yes. But I can pull 18 Mbps off of UNS with no problem with the IPs.

I signed up to Usenetserver to see if they were worth the money over Easynews.

Thank goodness they had a full refund guarantee.

Logged on, duped my copy of Agent, and retrieved headers from a few binary groups with both servers.

Usenetserver had about 25-40% as many available headers as Easynews. Completion was HORRIBLE and retention was equally bad.

Seriously, switch to Easynews. You won't go back.

Maybe usenetserver.com or whatever has them. Give me the host names, I'll nslookup them for you. Jeez man, get a grip. pr0n ain't that important.

I know the names of three of the feeds:

news.usenetserver.com
east.usenetserver.com
west.usenetserver.com

but I can't remember what the other three were.

The ones I use:

64.154.60.182
64.154.60.184
64.154.60.187
64.154.60.181
64.154.60.185
64.154.60.180
64.154.60.179

Tried usenetnews and their completion wasn't that great.

Went to giganews and haven't gone back to anything else. Fast and a heavy retention rate, its quite worth the money.

My suggestion to switch to easynews still stands.

Do me a favor -- anyone with usenetserver.

Download headers from alt.binaries.dvdr and tell me 1) number of headers, 2) oldest post, 3) approx. completion.

For comparison: Easynews has 550,000 headers dating all the way back to 4/01/03 with at least 95% completion. Beat that. 🙂

Are these still working? I know usenetserver has been having problems for the last week or so, and lately, I haven't been able to connect to these servers. Anyone else having these problems?

Giganews's group stat engine says they've got 1,092,616 articles and "10+ days" retention. I can't personally retrieve all of the headers since Agent has a million header retrieval limit. 😛

Am I the only one experiencing terrible service from UseNetServer. It's been going on for about a week now. They claim they're fixing the problem but I'm still getting very slow speeds.

Easynews - 6 GB/month :frown:
UseNetServer - unlimited. 😉

I can download 12GB in a day, if I wanted too. I use NewsBin Pro 4.1. I agree that retention can be bad, but a 6GB/month limit is no good for me.

Too Expensive. Who cares about 4/1/03. I downloaded everything from April that I wanted IN April.

That said I do still have an Easynews account in addition to another service but not for long.

I did use Usenetserver for about 2 hours. After that I got a refund.

Last I checked, you can't download a series of RARs and use them effectively when you're missing a good 15% of the parts. Usenetserver's completion rate in the high traffic groups was abysmal.

I know, that's why I got a refund after 2 hours! I use someone else now.
