Anyone got in a wreck ?

So I was leaving the parking lot, and this dude just backs straight into my car, despite me laying on the horn. It jacked up the bumper pretty nice. Did the whole info/insurance thing - has anyone had good experience w/ AAA. Since it was his fault they're going to pay for it, but I want to take it to a shop that I trust... what a hassle.

best bet is get estimates. Submit the ones that are higher the shop you want to take it to along with the one from your shop. Cheapest price wins so no problem, usually.

I've never been in a wreck, but I can tell you that those accident reports are a bitch. 🙁

I mean seriously...I can't f'n draw! Good thing we get those stencils.

Ah! So that's how they do it? I keep filing UD-10s (MI's standard accident report form) and wonder how the drawings are always so neat looking. 🙂

Yeah, this wasn't a full-fledged wreck, per se. I was in a parking lot.... so I am not sure if the police have authority there so I didn't want to bring in the law.

when I was hit by someone who had AAA, they reported the accident the same day. AAA contacted me and told me to bring the car into one of their estimate centers. They asked me which body should I would like to bring it too, estimated the damage and cut me a check, then it was up to me to bring the car to get fixed.

I don't know what you would do if he doesn't report it first. I would report it to my insurance company and since it obviously wasn't your fault, your insurance company should handle the transaction between you and AAA. But some people might say that that will increase your insurance premiums.

Same thing happened to me a few months ago.

Police won't respond, since it happened on private property.

The insurance company I had to deal with was a piddly local bullsh!t company that dicked me around for as long as possible. Eventually I just drove to the place and sat in the adjuster's office until she made it right.

You should tell them how great their drawing skills are...see if they'll admit to using the stencils. 😉

Yeah, i spoke with a AAA claims adjuster today, and they are waiting to contact the crasher to get his side of the story. Hopefully he won't lie, as i didn't get any police report, but he seemed like a decent guy who was just in a hurry.

If all goes well, I should get a call tomorrow about it.

AAA typically will work on it right away, I had an accident before with the other party's insurer was AAA. As soon as they get the statement from the other guy, normally it doesn't take long for them to process it. It would have been better if you got a written statement from the other dude that he bumped into you. I've heard some stories from friends that the other person twisted the whole story making them the innocent party..

take it to the most expensive body shop (generally someone who works on mercedes, cadillac etc..) and then take it to your OEM body shop (say if u have a honda, take it to a honda body shop) and they will average the 2 and give that amount check

if u are asking for quality.. ALWAYS take it to ur manufacturer body shop... and if u have the car on finance meaning that you cannot get the check in hand.. still take it to the oem dealer BUT BUT always remind the insurance adjuster that you want NEW ORIGINAL PART...

for ex: i wrecked my car (honda accord) and it was under finance... so they couldnt give a check, instead i take it to my choice of body shop. after they ordered the parts and everything, i learned that the MY own insurance co. (been with them for 8yrs) ordered parts from JUNK YARD and installed it.. later i read in the allstate letter that if i had any disgression about what they are doing, you have to call them and request what parts u want on your car but i was too late:|

goodluck and everything will be fine

Meh, nothing wrong with junkyard parts. A piece of metal is a piece of metal. I doubt you'll ever see the difference.
