One thing I'm not liking about FFIII so far is that when you are running around a lot of the maps, the top screen is just blank. No map up there, which would be a huge help, or even just a status screen would be nice.
hmm mine has a map.
Yes, it has a world map, but there are no detailed maps in the various areas. When you are running around in a city, or in a dungeon or whatever, the top screen is black. I don't want to give anything away to people who haven't played that far, but there are plenty of areas where the top screen is blank, and you are running around trying to figure out if you've been to a certain area. It get frustrating backtracking trying to decide if you went to a particular area, and you keep being hit with random encounters.
sounds like any classic RPG to me
But it was almost completely redone for the DS. They ported it to the US, completely redid the graphics, basically made a new game out of it. Why not actually use the DS's capabilities? At the very least, a frigging status screen at the top would be nice. It's stupid to see the top screen totally black for 75% of the game. Don't get me wrong, I'm having a lot of fun with the game, but they could have done so much more with it. It doesn't even feel like a DS game, it feels like I'm playing a GBA game on the DS the way they basically ignored the second screen except for cutscenes.
yes a status screen or osmething would have geen great.
but for teh map. you can get a spell that gives a more detailed map.
