Anyone got anymore cool video clips of people doing crazy things in video games? I think I've seen the super mario 3 one, the regular mario bros one, the street fighter redizzy, the metroid prime speed run, and the mortal kombat 3 combos one.

There's one called Quake Done Quick where they manage to beat Quake in about 15 or 20 min, but it's like a huge 100+MB vid.

Based on what evidence? If it's the theory that it can't be done because nobody is that good, no, you're wrong. I've seen players do things close to that level of skill. Near-endless 1up jumping isn't anything new, and speed runs through levels isn't either. In fact I think SMB3 was designed to compete a little with Sonic in the "go fast" department.

Besides, the kid was Japanese. Those guys are crazy good at video games. :p

Anyway, I don't have a video of it, but someone on the IonStorm forums posted some pics showing how they beat Deus Ex: Invisible War in an hour. Complex game my ass.

The guy himself admitted it on the ORIGINAL site, but nobody knew it b/c the site was in japanese, as sooon as the viedo got semi-famous it came out.

It wasn't a hoax b/c the guy never tried to portray it as real. He made it in an emulator by clipping frames together.

Link to the original site? I can sorta read Japanese.

The video's pretty seamless though. The only place he could really have cut-n-pasted was between levels. (unless he's really good at editing) That being said he still had to run those levels damn fast.

What I interpreted the horridly translated Japanese to say was that he did frame-by-frame save states, and every time he screwed up he just went back X frames to a point he knew he could start from.

So not a straight play-through, but still a good deal of skill involved therein. Neat.

I don't want to call it a hoax because he didn't use cheat codes or fake parts of the game. He did use lots of save states and slow down the game a whole lot. So it's within the boundaries of the game AND if you're REALLY REALLY good, it can be done.
