Anyone got a PIII 512KB CPU? What's different with FCPGA2?

Can a motherboard that can handle a PIII Tualatin handle the server PIII CPUs with 512KB cache? I see NewEgg.com has a BX80530C1400512 PIII 1.4GHz 512KB CPU for $205. I know, I know, you could probably get a faster performing P4 or Athlon XP and a motherboard for that price. The thing is, I have all these parts lying around, and a video application (DPS Velocity) that loves the 815 chipset. I?d like to see how much power I could get out of this motherboard. I notice the CPU says FCPGA2. Is that dramatically different than the FCPGA socket my motherboard has? How fast would this chip be in comparison to an Athlon 1800+ or a P4 2GHz?

FCPGA2 just means there's a heatspreader over the core... :)

EDIT: Yes it will work on your board... but you need a heatsink that will accomodate the slight increase in height. I have one of those P3-S... but only the 1.26 model... it's been rock solid... :D

Thanks! If I got retail, it would come with a heatsink anyway. Though it may be cheaper to get OEM and a Volcano or something cheap...

I wonder how the performance is, GHz to GHz, compared to a P4.
