ok for a project i am working on we have to use this 'new' technology that is essentially a touch screen LCD, but it is completely see through (when you want it to be)...it isnt fake see through like...you have a cam behind he LCD and project the image onto it...it is actually transparent....anyone know wtf i'm talking about?

i dont think is gonna help but the pic i'm looking for is of this asian woman showing off the LCD and there is a pic of some creature off of the movie Shrek displayed somewhere in the pics...thats all i remeber. the bastard teacher wont give us a link or the manufacturer of the LCD...ive googled for about 30 mins and cant find it...

I think I saw something like that, but it was just a trick. They took a picture of what was behind the laptop and made that the background, I think I saw it on Linkswarm.

no not the laptops with the cams behind them...this is a bona-fied real deal see through LCD...i think it was supposed to be at CES 07 or something...

edit:

the teacher was not mistaken...the angles at which you could see the LCD prove that it is just like a pane of glass

Everything is see-through but it's just a regular projection TV.

Transparent LCD's have been around forever. Screens that you could set on top of an overhead projector would an example. However these transparent screens were generally not backlit so, if they've found a way to light the screen and make it transparent sweet...
