From the face of it and in particular how Fox is covering it

https://www.foxnews.com/world/thous...ear-gas-water-cannon-against-paris-protesters

has it ringing russian psy ops in my years in a split second.

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/11/24/europe/france-protests-intl/index.html

"The objective was to unite everybody here in Paris. I am disappointed because it wasn't meant to be like this," Thierry Paul Valette, one of the organizers of Saturday's demonstration in Paris told CNN. "

There was a peaceful protest that was taken over by ... aggressive rioters? It has Putin written all over it.

I am in another EU country, we are facing the same restructuring to get away from fossils .. and 90% is like, yea, that makes sense, lets do it. Whats happening in France right now smells artificial as hell.

Fox is chest thumping over the "fall" of socialist Europe and evil big government. How terrible their economy is due to government existence.

Take off the tin foil. There's a particular group of people in France (the even have a name for them but it escapes me) that do this every time there is a protest. They come out solely to cause damage and havoc.

The French love a good riot though. This happens a couple of times a year.

It's France. Riots are a national pastime.

It's unfortunately easy to be cynical about French riots. They do sometimes seem like a recreational tradition. And the state seems very tolerant of them as long as the rioters are white. But I hate thinking that because there's also a positive tradition in there, going back to the Paris Commune and before to the Sans-Culottes. The French have a capacity for stroppiness, that can work for good or ill.

Edit - of course so do Americans. But I think maybe French stroppiness takes a more collectivist form, Americans are more individualist in their strop-throwing.

If there were not routine strikes/stoppages and also riots every couple years over something it wouldn't be France.
