C1 is the latest P4 stepping in their cpu line. This really means just that the latest manufactured cpus could potentially have a greater success in overclocking then the older B0 stepping cpus. At least that is what I am guessing at, but I could be wrong, if someone cares to correct me.

Is there a way for you to know if its the C1 stepping without looking at the CPU itself? Does the retail box have that info?

Yes, you can look for the "Production Code". The sSpec number is the last 5 digits at the end of it. Intel has info about the sSPec codes, including which stepping they are that is accessible through theirProcessor Spec Finder page.

There's also a "C1 Stepping" chart floating around here and at Overclockers forums. It's an Intel confidential document that someone posted. It shows all the C1 stepping sSpec codes.

Oh crap, B0 stepping. And I just got this from Newegg.....

But I checked with the Intel site and it seems like the C1 steppings are only with CPU's 2.5ghz and above.

There is (was) 2.4 C1s available from Newegg briefly last week.

Look at this chart for a list of all the forthcoming C1 steppings. This is the chart I was referring to in my last post.

Hhhmmm.... the two C1 stepping 2.4's are still not on Intel's web site. LINK.

The latest it has listed is the SL6EU. I have the SL6D7.
