Hey guys, I have the dissassembled RCA input module for my Ford Expedition. After an unfortunate accident by one of my buddies stepping on the cable to a plugged in MP3 player, the jack was irrepairably damaged. I need the white jack repaired/replaced. I'm not skillful enough for this. I know that the jack can be bought on Digi-Key or Mouser, but I am very new to soldering and de-soldering and I don't know what could happen to the PCB. I have the module out, it weighs less than an ounce, it's the 3 RCA jacks mounted to a PCB with 5 wires running to it. I need the jack repaired/replaced and I need two wires that pulled while messing with it (I have the two wires marked as to which of the two jacks they go to.) I NEED this thing functional in 5 weeks BAD. I will pay for shipping each way, and I will pay for the work and parts needed. Hoping to keep under 30$ overall though, cause i'm a poor college student ya know :p. So please...tell me someone out there will do this for me! If you're interested, you can Pm me. To show dedication, if i ship it to you, i will paypal you cash for the parts you need to repair it before you buy them yourself. And i will paypal the dollars when I have proof it works, and final payment upon me receiving the module again.

I can't get your links to work so I can inspect the damage. I would be more than happy to do the work for you (was in Rework and Repair for 8 years and over 10 years exp in the field).

I sent you a PM with my e-mail address in case you care to discuss further.

Regards

Bainbridge, about 11mi from the Florida border. I doubt anyone will do it free, it's gonna require at least the cost of a new jack cause the old one is toast :p. I'm just waiting on smoove.

Yea, I know I can repair it. It's finding the replacement part that'll be the problem. Do you happen to know any details of the part? Perhaps markings on it? It's be especially nice to have the vendor name and component part # to find what exactly you need.

I believe I found the *individual* jack. You would have to desolder all three, as the black plastic is a container, mounting all their grounds to itself to run to a single connector at the end of the plastic mount. So that makes this special, and you can't get a hold of the whole piece in itself. Anyways, you all 3 would have to be desoldered, then the new white jack fitted in, then all 3 resoldered back into the PCB.

Part X on there in the PCB mount section.

So this ended up being fixable without any additional parts required. Here's the last thread I received, and still no payment to even re-imburse my shipping. I guess I learned a lesson here!

Hey Casey,

That's no problem. It was a relatively easy fix and
I'm really glad it worked for you.

My Paypal is smoove910@yahoo.com

Go ahead and pay whatever you feel the job was worth.
I have no asking price.

Regards,
Kris

Hey hold on now, I'm sorry some sh*t just came up i wasn't expecting. My aunt got in a car wreck and I've been twisted in all directions trying to meet my duties :p. Believe me I haven't forgotten. Paypal is still doing my bank transfer, they said 3-5 days (it's been 3). As soon as the money is in my account I'm sending it to you. Again sorry for not replying to email, but I'm going every which way right now and this thread kind of fell off my mind (if u see in other threads, my laptop is going in for repairs, so I've lost my Outlook calendar and all that i use to keep things straight). I'll let you know as soon as I send the money to your account from Paypal. Again, I do thank you dearly for your work, it didn't go unnoticed, and will not be unrewarded.

PS: I see Paypal is giving me an expected clearing date of tomorrow (21st) so I should be able to get it out to you tomorrow if all goes right.
