Were going to the beach in a few weeks so I thought I'd give it a try. I have fair skin so I think it may save me from getting burned at the beach. So I went Tuesday stayed in the bed for 11 minutes, Tuesday night was ok I slept well, Wedensday I could feel it a little during the day but Wedensday night I didn't sleep worth crap. So needless to say today I feel like crap.
I guess I let the burn go down and go back, hopefully it won't burn no more.
Any advice from people with experience is welcome.

a tanning bed is the worst thing you can do for your skin---you're much better off laying in the sun if you want to tan

You should have never stayed in the bed for 11 minutes on your first visit. You should always move up in minutes each visit, for example.

1st visit=5 minutes
2nd visit=7 minutes
3rd visit=10 minutes,

etc.

Always ask when the bulbs were replaced as well because that can make a difference in how long you should stay in the bed. If you have any more questions let me know. :)

I heard something about tanning beds being bad as they actually burn the skin much deeper then a normal suntan. Anybody, know anything about this? Yes, I know of search engines, but am much much too lazy ;-)

I've heard there good if you have psoriasis, I have a little problem with that so I was hoping it would help that also.

I had a dermatologist reccommend tanning to me a year ago, but I haven't followed through with it yet. I should give it a try, but I know nothing about it.

Tanning beds are the worst thing for your skin you can imagine. The light from the 'bulbs' used in those beds submit more UVB than UVA radiation. UVB radiation mostly damages your DNA, while UVA makes you 'tan' (i.e. pigment is being produced to protect the skin against the radiation).

On the other hand, with the ozone layer getting thinner all the time, UVC radiation (causes nearly instant cell-death) may penetrate the ozone layer and reach the earth's surface. Tanning outside 'in the sun' would then equal suicide.

I've read that the UVB rays is whats good for psoriasis, altough they too much is bad for it. So I guess I'll cut back on the time. The psoriasis doesn't bother me in the winter but its nice to keep it down in the summer.
