I was talking with a co-worker about what places we could travel (both love to travel) that were different and started looking at the alumni travel sections of our respective universities. We ran across some trips that look interesting (namely Machu Picchu) and got to thinking actually doing this trip. Our only concern is we would prefer to be with people our age (later 20's).

Does anyone have any experience with alumni travel? Or have a suggestion for another unique place to visit?

peru and macchu picchu is one of my top destinations. howevre, i think "packaged" travel deals are a rip. you can always meet people at hostels (yes, hostels, not "youth hostels")

actually, airfare when I called American Airlines last May, to include two ocean crossings, and 4 segments within both Europe and Asia, and 6 segments within North America is only $3900 for coach. It cost $1K more for me to do that (go from Shanghai to Budapest) then for me to complete two roundtrips to the USA (which involved 14 hours more of flying,~28 hrs instead of 14)..so I did that

No doubt. Around 4k for coach is about right. LOL, I don't know where Jawo is getting 15K! Hell, I think you can do First Class for under 15K. Round the World first class tickets are usually heavily discounted.

I was looking at AirTrek's website where I think the minimum number of stops was like 5 or 6. Most of the routes I have played around with are 10-12 stops with 4-6 more to reduce costs. However I can't seem to access the site at the moment.
