is it worthwhile?? got a call, and they have like diff programs. chancellors club is like $1500 and you could talk w/chancellor, and network, etc... and the lowest they have is $50, if you want in 2 separate payments. i declined since i don't work at the moment.

is it generally worth your money?? or once your out of campus, who cares??

Heck no.

I graduated and I am done with them.

They gave me $0 to go there so I am giving them $0 now that I am finished.. my 4 years of tuition payments were my "donations"

When they call me I just hang up

I plan on giving my university hundreds of thousands of dollars if not more to help make the program I'm in as good as I know it can be, once I graduate and get rich 😉

I donate to my college. I changed a lot for the better while I was going there primarily due to the staff and faculty, and they helped me a lot financially. I want those same opportunities to be there for others, and because other people gave money so I could make it through, and because I believe in the way they do things, that's why I donate.

I don't join any of their "clubs", though. You can still network through the Alumni Association whether you give money or not.

I got a couple of math dept merit scholarships as an undergrad, so I've given them money to help fund the same scholarship for more people -- when I was there they only gave out one a year, now it's up to 2 people / year.

me too

f*ck no! I still don't get paid sh1t cuz of them. What a waste...minus the life-experiences of course....education is totally overrated.

i give up to whatever my firm wil match every year (2k presently). typically, your degree is what will land you a sucessful job (at least it did in my case). If i can help in anyway to allow the same opportunity for someone else, I can't think of a reason not to.

So I pay thousands to go there, go through the hassles when all I want to do is learn, and I'm supposed to feel sentimental and give them money because I paid to go to school there?

Alumni donations are ridiculous.

A college is a business just like any other. You don't donate money to the supermarket a week after you buy groceries just because you shopped there, do you?

Well if you donate to them your kids have a better chance of getting in. The legacy stuff. But it doesn't matter as much for state schools, private schools on the otherhand give legacies a big advantage.

If you go to a crappy school with no compitition for marticulation it deos'nt seem worth it. Now a top 40 school on the other hand you may want to reconsider. Makes a big difference for your childrens application.
