Anyone getting idle P4 temp below 35 C?

If so, how? I recently put a fan in the front of my case with an air filter and brought it down 2 degrees. I am still using the stock P4 heatsink and fan. Thinking of upgrading. I do have Arctic Silver III on the heatsink.

Whether or not your P4 can get below 35c is NOTHING anybody should be worried about. Your concern should be staying below 60c.

Are you talking about idle temp of 60c? Geez. That's pretty hot. Mine gets to about 55c right after playing Call of Duty. So, I think it's doing ok. I am just thinking of replacing the heatsink. So, I wanted to see approximately what everyone else's idle temps are.

I think he means staying below 60c load temps. what CPU/HSF are you running, at what clocks?

My 2ndary P42.0 @ 2.0/400 idles at about 25-28 with stock HSF. I'm thinking its a glitch, never seen temps that low.

Almost evey P4 rig I've built idles below 35°C. But like shminu said, it's your load temp that really matters.

I don't suppose you're using an Abit board, are you?

I have a P4 2.4C on an Asus P4C800DX Mobo with stock heatsink and fan. It's running at stock speed but will be overclocked after I get a better heatsink.

Hi MavTech,

I have a stock P4 2.53ghz on a GA8-INXP with a stock heatsink and fan. The temp in the room is 21.5degC (70.7degF) and the cpu is running at 25degC (77degF) according to MBM5. The fan on the heatsink is running at 2556rpm. My case is a Lian Li PC-65B. It has two fans up front, one exhaust in the back and one blow hole on the top of the case. The power supply has dual fans as well. The inside of the case is at 22.7degC (72.7degF). The hottest the cpu ever gets is 42degC running hours of flight sims, NASCAR 2002 or Metal of Honor. I built the system myself in January of 2003 and I'm quite happy with it.

I hope this helped, :)

Mine idle around 27C. I have a P4 2.8C on P4P800 Deluxe board with stock HSF. I lowered it by like 5-6C by adding a fan for intake on the window.

By the looks of all your temps, I still need to lower mine a little. The only reason mine is 33c right is because it's actually freezing cold here in sunny Florida.

I run 3.3GHz on a 3.0C processor, it idles around 27-28C on the P4P800. I think the keys are having a blowhole on top of the case (ATC-201C), an outlet fan near the NB/CPU, and my Zalman 7000CU HSF (with the regulator) applied with ceramique. I can actually go a bit lower but I put my Raptors right in front of the front fans. Also I clean my case somewhat regularly with compressed air. Room temp is 68F. Max T=42-43C (after an hour or so 2XPrime95). A good cooling solution is critical with this chipset I think.

it depends on ambient temperature fools! if you live in Alaska you can get 5º of idle temperature in winter, easy!
