Just checked the bank account and saw we got our return already. Helps to efile with Direct Deposit and do it early. Time to pay off the bills.
 
got mine on the 12th. paid off all my CC bills. damn it feels good. I had 50K in cc bills 5 years ago. bought it down to 0 last week.
 
I wouldn't know. If you get money back from your interest free loan to the gubment you're doing it wrong.

Tell you what - you send me 30,000 dollars right now. And I'll give you back 29,000 a year from now.

Tuition expenses + working for 7 months but getting taxed in a higher bracket = big refund

It was direct deposited on the 20th, transferred straight to my house down payment account.

I got mine a while ago...filed shortly after receiving my W2s.
 
Yea I got a huge return this year thanks a few tax credits and owning a home. I'm paying off my last CC bill, my car 8 months early, spending $800 of it for a 4 day trip to New Orleans in March with my fiance and the other 4,600 of my return is going into a high yield money market for a new car later this spring/early summer.

thanks man. it took me a whole 5 years; damn forgot how great it felt to be debt free. the return wasn't much; a few thousand.. but enough for me to knock it out of my life for good (hopefully!)
 
I like getting a decent return at the end of the year. If I didn't, I'd probably spend it. This way I budget to my paycheck and the refund at the end of the year is a nice bonus surprise.

But then there are people like me who got all that money back because of deductions plus tax credits. If you left all those out I overpaid uncle sam by only $250...I make sure I get all the dime that is mine...This year was just particularly nice since I got just a smidgen over 10K back from combined federal and state.
 
I owe money, waiting until 4/17 before i press the send button.

Mothafucking Uncle Sam aint making a penny of interest off of me.

yep. i try and get as little return back as possible. last year i got about $4k back, this year i'll only be getting back $200. i didnt fill out my w-4 properly when i started my job in 07.
 
Even though I distinctly remember claiming "head of household" on my W-4, I somehow still ended up getting back $3,100 this year.

The insane amount of town property tax I pay for my house and car every year gives me some pretty sweet deductions to work with, I guess.

Think of it as forced savings, that's really good for some people.

I only got $177 back so I think I am doing pretty well on keeping the money in my hands.
