I got an 1110, not a horrible score, but ceartainatly about 200 points below where I would like to be.

Oh an btw, I highly doubt that all you people scored in the 1500's, so why dont you all just post your real scores?

i'm taking sats and acts in june... i got around a 1400 on my psat's, and i'm hoping to beat my brothers scores! (1430 and 32, i believe)

The SAT's dont really show anything. Anyone can get some flash cards or a book and easily score at least 1300. It's too bad that we value them so much. I heard that the University of California schools don't really look at SAT I's anymore though. Is that true?

BTW, I got 1460 on my SAT I's:
740 math
720 English

SAT II's:
790 math
760 English
720 US history

from what I remember, the UCs have some scoring system like GPA * 1000 + SAT + SAT II (three of them, I believe). So while the SATs aren't the only thing, they sure are important, although the SAT IIs had more weight for some reason.

In any case, while your SAT score might not "mean" anything, it's the only standardized numbers these schools have to rate their thousands of applicants and it is better than nothing.

Heh, I said he isn't a genius because, like you, he spelled it 'genious.' 🙂 Anyway, good work.

actually, you are probably worse off. Don't most schools weigh the verbal more than the math? I think the PSATs do the same (at least they used to for national merit scholarship consideration). I think verbal was worth twice as much as math.

I don't know about that but schools prefer scores closer together (like mine are) to a slightly higher score with greater disparity. Either way, we both did quite well.

I've been accepted to college since December (hooray for Early Decision)...so I don't care about schools weighing sh!t any more. 😉

SAT has become easier over the years. Over inflated scores these days compared to many years ago. (you actually need to add 100 pts past a certain date when compared)
That's a true story. The SAT median resetting supposedly happened in 1996. Here's a conversion chart for any of you who took the exam before that year. I have a 1550 by post-1996 standards.
