Anyone get the Warhawk expansion?

if you go into warhawk, it lets you download from the main menu...you'll have to patch up to 1.2 though. i really wanna check out those dropships

What does it add besides dropships and one new map? If people thought $10 for 3 Halo maps was expensive, they'll really hate this one if that's it.

I wouldn't mind to check it out, but since I dropped $40 for the game 2 months ago, I've logged exactly 2 matches online 🙂. I might want to play the game a bit more before I drop more money on it.

Not sure what all else it has. I know it's suppose to have night time battles, but I'm unclear on whether that means the new map is a night map or if all maps can be played at night.

I'll be getting it tonight to try it out. It's been a few weeks since I've played (lots of other games to play)... I've been waiting for this update to hit to get back in.

its 8 bucks and 1 warhawk map is like 5 halo maps.

in terms of, based on the configuration, there are different layouts, so that forces that battle to be played somewhat differently. not counting the different game types (deathmatch, ctf, zone control, etc etc), the different layouts basically will create different places where a battle will be fought, and since different map locations have different amounts of base defenses and vehicles, the fight will definitely play out differently in each layout. I've experienced that a lot already.

Sure, I put about 20 hours into Battlefield 2 online. I guess I just prefer smaller, different maps that have different locales. Sure, the Warhawk maps are huge, but no matter how you split them up, it all feels the same. It's the same mood and texture base throughout.

Just my opinion. I really need to put some more time into Warhawk, but the control scheme really threw me for a loop. The tank is the worst, having to use both thumbs, plus one finger on R2 for throttle, and another finger on R1 to shoot. I'm coordinated, but not THAT coordinated 🙂.

each of 'zones' in a warhawk or bf map require you play specific to the zone. you make it sound like there all the zones are just images of each other, like they did a copy and paste job.

No, I made it sound like the atmosphere is exactly the same in each zone, no matter how many zones a level has. Like I said, I prefer individual maps with different locales, not the possibility of one huge map with 6 subsets, all of which have the same mood and design.

maybe these kinda large scale shooters aren't for you then. personally i like playing warhawk and bf1942 just as much as i like playing cs:s and halo. its a different experience...there is a lot more freedom in these games, lets you fuck around more.

You still aren't understanding me. I don't mind the wide open expanses of a map. In fact, I love huge maps such as those in Warhawk and the Battlefield series. But you said one map equals 5 Halo maps, because you can take one Warhawk map and split it up into sub-zones, so it's like 6 different maps if you really wanted to look at it like that. I'm saying that when you look at it like you have, those 6 "different" maps, even though they have different layouts, they all look the same in style. If I was faced with a choice, I'd rather have 3 maps with different locales and styles rather than 6 different "maps" that all look the same.

I don't quite understand how you got so confused in only a few posts.

Warhawk would be one of the few PS3 games I'd be interested in.

That said, this does seeem like quite the rip off, as were the Halo maps. The companies seem to be testing out the waters; can't blame em, I guess.

And the arguement that the warhawk maps are so much bigger it's like many Halo maps is pretty silly - Halo 3 was the forge, where (in some maps) you can basically change the whole layout and feel of the map. Not quite the same, but enough to "compete" in that aspect.

Ya I took you seriously. And I didn't compare Warhawk to Halo, I compared the price and value of one DLC to that of another. Then I stated my opinion of what I'd rather pay for. Halo was used as an example because of the close proximity of DLC releases.

Well, all the bickering aside, anyone actually try it yet? Despite the day early accidental release, they apparently took it down and it wasn't available until yesterday evening. I downloaded it, but I have a weekly poker game on Thursday and didn't get a chance to try it out.

I also checked the EU PSN store and noticed that they got "Populous: The Beginning". I played that game years ago on the PC and really enjoyed it. Anyone know of a US release date? If it's not anytime soon I may be tempted to just purchase the game from the EU store.

Oh my god I loved that game! How much fun was that? Spending hours and hours and hours in to it.

I eventually moved on to Vietnam, which had it's issues--but retained the same feel of 1942 and was just a blast to play. I never moved on to BF2 or 2142, either.

I actually miss playing those games. 🙁

Warhawk didn't do anything for me. I played it a few times and meh, not really all that exciting for me. Maybe I need to play it a little more. I did however like Resistance. Great game! I actually liked it better than Halo 3, but Halo 3 was just alright to me.
