Anyone get the Low performance error in Windows after exiting a game?

I played Dirt 3 for the first time today. Had the settings cranked to the highest they can go. It was running very smooth with no issues. After I exited the game I got a Window that popped up saying the Performance for desktop aero was low or something like that. There was a caution sign on the taskbar.

This is a fresh windows install with the 11.10 AMD preview drivers. This is my 2600k system in my sig below.

Has anyone ever run into this issue?

Sounds like it's likely a driver issue. When you shut down the game, the drivers need to allow for seamless transition from one 3d app (game) to another 3d app (Aero). Sometimes there can be hitches. I've seen this before and in from what I remember it was always a driver thing.

There is a small possibility it may be the game, so feel free to check the forums.

I'd try removing those beta "preview" drivers and install the latest official release drivers and see what happens.

I've got this with my system a few times also. Very odd. Might have been Dirt3. I will have to check. Too many Steam sales lately. I bounce from game to game too much.

I think something strange is going on because when I exited my web browser to shut down, it hung for a few seconds, then kind of slid off the screen. I am going to get all the new drivers for this board and install all non beta drivers etc and see what happens.

I think when your playing a game like Dirt 3 with all the settings turned it it consumes enough resources (VRAM) to starve other application which need some of the video memory i.e. Windows Aero user interface.

Typically Windows 7 will drop you to a non-Aero interface and then issue the warning. Everything should return to normal as the video card resources are returned to the OS.
