I picked it up last night and am having fun. Graphics suck ass tho but I usually play SR games for the retarded mayhem.
 
i saw the commercial for it during monday night football and thought it was a joke commercial for like some jeans or something.
 
I saw a bunch of gameplay vids on YT and watched the trailers, but now I really want the game. 🙁

I should have probably saved up for the August 20 release
 
I picked it up, and it's like they took the unholy addictive parts of Crackdown and put it with SR humor. I've logged in too many hours jumping and running around looking for those stupid orbs.. I mean code glitches.
 
Ehh, not to knock it but I tried part two when I got it cheap on Steam, couldn't get into it. Got part 3 free on PS Plus and couldn't get into it either. There were some very fun parts to part three but the open world didn't feel like a world to me. I did enjoy the shooting game show thingy in part 3 though, that was fun.
 
2 was, IMO, amazing. 3 was a big let down though. It looks like 4 is even more wacky, so I might end up checking it out eventually. I am currently going through Darksiders 2 because I have nothing better to do. Probably try this out after.

previews and ads for this makes it look hilarious... i'll pick it up when it's $5. so probably tomorrow.
 
Ok just bought it a few hours ago and played a bit, it's really fun. Superpowers is a good addition and the crude humor is just as good 🙂
 
I'll pass on this. I got the third free on ps+ played it with a buddy online and didn't care for it at all. I can't see dropping the cash to get this game

Is the engine still terrible, in the sense that as soon as a car is out of view (which only takes a couple hundred feet) the car is vanished? like in Saints Row The Third?

this even includes cop chases. if you are able to get out of view of the cop, you can literally slam on the breaks, drive in reverse (towards the direction of the pursuing cop) and the cop car is gone, because of the shitty memory system in the game that just erases everything that isnt on the framebuffer (or whatever)

I'm so sick of these surface-deep engines which only produce decent screenshots, the worlds have no permanence. Hopefully next-gen fixes this. I want my open world games to have a little more permanence to them, as far as object locations and what not. If a cop is chasing me and I end up 1000 feet in front of him, I should be able to slam on my breaks and that cop eventually catches up to me. That doesnt happen in Saints Row. That cop car 1000 feet from you is GONE and instead the game relies on spawning other cops closer by to your vehicle.

STUPID and yes I am raging this morning. The next gen consoles have terrible (TERRIBLE) cpu's, so this probably wont change at all, and pc ports will still be turrible.
 
Future, the draw distance on cars and objects isn't horrible but they do vanish, but that won't effect your cop issues.. you see, you will not be driving, or chased by cops. You gain your super run and jump fairly early, and upgrade them soon after to boot. When you start jumping super high, the cars disappear as part of LOD.

I never played the 3rd.. and I am told approx %70 of the graphics are recycled so that is kind of sad. However I am still impressed with the performance of the engine (I have almost everything maxed at 1080p on a Q6600 crysis 1-built rig) and it really handles the high speed running and jumping without a hitch, something that would have been so impossible on older open world engines.
