I always had this problem with the game: if you have at least 256 MB of ram or more, you must rename or delete the "gimme.dll" file in the game directory. For some reason, this dll makes the game hang on the opening screen of the game and eat up tons of ram (>800 MB sometimes - according to task manager).

Kormic - right click on the shortcut and choose "Properties" - then look for the "compability" tab...

i got it to run on win2k under compatibility mode.

just right click on the icon and then properties. then check the compatibility mode and you'll see different options. choose like winme or win98.

No problem.

I had this problem when I had a Geforce2 GTS, and it still happens to me now after I downgraded (don't ask :Q) to a Geforce2 MX.

That is odd. You must be lucky! I've seen this problem occur on several systems actually, some of them with TNT2s and others even with Matrox G450s. Oh well, I don't even play it anymore.

I didn't have to bother with the "gimme.dll" file at all, all I did was change the page file size from 512-768 to 256-512 and the game worked perfectly after that. NTCompatible.com is a great site.
