I got the game couple days ago and it's pretty much what I expected it to be.

It's very similar to the first one FFTA on GBA, except with better graphics and more jobs/items if I remember correctly.

While this game has some of the same characteristics of the PS original FF Tactics, it's also different in the sense that it's "easier" to pick up and has a few different features (like judge laws during battle)

I'll admit I haven't gone very far in FF: Tactics for my PSP and I probably won't play it anymore now that I got this game, but at this point, I'm liking FFTA2 more than FFT, mainly due to the less steep difficulty level of FFT.

The graphics for FFTA2 are pretty good, detailed and colorful. Music can get a little obnoxious at times, but not a real big deal. One thing I don't really like (and this goes for all tactics so far) is that I wish battles could move a little faster. When I say that, I mean like when spells are cast on multiple individuals, it has to repeat the animation for each char whereas I would prefer it if it did it all at once.

Overall I love this game and think if you enjoyed the first FFTA, then this is right up your ally.

I had a very deja vu moment when I first started it up - the art almost seems recycled from FFTA, albeit with some improvements. Still, looking forward to getting into it.

Sounds like it's too much like FFT:A for my tastes.

That one couldn't hold a candle to the original.

I like it, but it hasn't really obsessively grabbed me like I thought it might. The number of items with abilities seems comparatively low to FFTA at the start, which means instead of switching gear and keeping characters in defined roles I'm swapping jobs a lot more and creating a more homogeneous clan. I'm sure I'll hit some sort of critical mass later, where new equipment either obtained from quests or crafted via the bazaar means I have a lot more options, but right now only a couple of jobs even have multiple abilities available.

I got it, I agree with you on the speed of animations, it's so friggishly slow that I get really annoyed when playing some longer battles.

The game is pretty good though, I just wish Nintendo would release Fire Emblem on the DS, now that's a superb tactics game (and speedy too).

Well, I've gotten about 12 hours playtime logged on this game and it's becoming more addictive each time. With all the different types of jobs and abilities that go along with those jobs, I find myself spending lots of time just messing with my clan.

I still wish battles would go a little quicker, but I'm dealing with it.

I'm enjoying it so far, a lot more than FFTA1 but not as much as FFT... then again, it's been ages since I've played the original.

I'm glad that battles and scenes aren't bullshit long like Rondo of Swords, felt like it took 5 minutes to finish off one turn.

Man, I'm really addicted now to this game.

I've logged 25 hours since getting it a week ago. It's like I just keep wanting to do another quest.

Good stuff.

I picked it up on Friday and I haven't gotten too far. Does it pick up the pace when it comes to skills?

I remember learning skills left and right but I haven't been able to find any new rods for my magic users yet.

I had the same issue with my magic users. There were not many rods or staves to purchase, so you gotta use the bazaar. Just try to make as many items as possible and eventually you'll come across some rods/staves for magic users.

After dabbling in the nightmare of the first ff tactics game, I flushed that piece of o.c.d garbage & tried the sequel after reading a few positive reviews...

This game was going ok but then I decided to upgrade the clan negotiation ability & it's pitted me against 6 dreamhares, I selected the toughest battle for the +5% bonus & receive the judge condition 'do not attack targets more than 1 square away' which is fine, I'm not supposed to attack using bows or spells (coz a spell effect splits off & damages adjacent targets also, yeah) so I'm withstanding all those bastardly charm spells they throw at me only to be constantly DISQUALIFIED because a melee attack sometimes knocks an enemy back 1 square... AND THE GAME CONSIDERS THAT A RANGED ATTACK!?

*flush!!!!
