I used to get "hotface" after the first few.
I don't know if my face actually got red, but it felt that way.

"For years it's been considered an open joke. Now doctors have found if people with Asian flush continue to drink, they are at risk for serious medical problems such as esophageal cancer live cancer and others."

It makes me wonder why anybody would ever drink again after discovering they have this condition and why we need articles warning people of things like this.

Most people I know will get a very light blush after a drink or three. The "Asian flush" they're talking about is much more pronounced. I'm Korean, and no I don't go beet red after having a drink.

I think what's described in the article is much more severe and pronounced than just getting rosey cheeked after throwing back a few. Most people do get a red flush somewhat when they drink because the alcohol causes your capillaries to expand as your body tries to "vent" the toxin out of your pores. This also has the effect of letting more of your body heat escape through your skin which is why you feel warm after drinking.

Ah fair enough, thanks for clearing that up. I still say that they can pry my double vodka and coke from my cold, dead fingers!

I few of my friends have this problem. Its not getting red after drunk. Its turning completely red and looking like ur gonna die of 2 sips of beer and having red grinch eyes.
They take a sudafed an hour before drinking and it's pretty much cured... I wonder if they should stop?

I get it... there've been threads on this too... lacking an enzyme, etc.

After a beer or something stronger, I feel my heart racing and my face is warm and I get real tired real fast. On Sunday at a wedding, I had a midori sour and halfway through it I felt my heart racing and got red.

I don't care for drinking to begin with. No big loss. I don't see how some people could ignore the health risks if they are actually experiencing it though... it stops you cold... unless you're a glutton for punishment. If it takes a while for it to happen, it's not the "asian flush".

I have asian flush and will start turning red and feeling ill after two sips of beer. It especially sucked when I travelled to London for business and almost every event took place in a bar. In one case, they pre-ordered several bottles of beer and wine for an event, but didn't think to order non-alcoholic beverages. Punks.
