Arg, guess I just have a long way to go.Originally posted by: igowerf
I get them and I noticed a pretty big difference during the spring. I've been getting them for about 3 years now, I think.

I have done everything under the sun for allergies. I had two viles of blood taken for lab work. I've had 4-5 inch needles stuck UP my nostril so they could give me a shot directly into the sinus. I went to the doctor for multiple times a week to get shots on the arm. Luckily the needle was small. I was afraid I was going to start looking like a druggie. Allergies are the worst thing ever. I used to go through entire boxes of Kleenex in 3 days. The only drugs I've found to be really effective are Chlorotriameton (sp?) and Claritin. Everything else is a joke. Now my allergies are nearly non-existant. I still have the sniffles sometimes but at least I can sleep now.

I don't even think they've helped that much since I've started getting them but my parents said they noticed a long time ago I stopped sniffling so much.
THose damn things are a pain to get though! I always forget... I did last Friday too, so hopefully I will be able to get it later today.
How far in were you when you had the reaction? I don't think I'd like any epinephrine shots if I could avoid it.Originally posted by: FFMCobalt
I used to. They didn't start helping until I was about 8 months into them. I took them for two years.
That and I had a systemic reaction. So bad that they didn't have time to rush me to the hospital that was across the street. They jammed a needle into my arm and shot me up with a FCKING HUGE dose of epinephrine and jammed a tube down my throat because my throat was starting to swell closed.
...yeah, not fun. They said that I would have been dead before getting through the doors at the hospital if they had taken me over to the emergency room instead of treating me there.
Don't get them, dude. Living with buying pills or sneezing like a bitch is better than not living at all.

Epinephrine = adrenaline. And yes, you DO want a shot that big. It was one of the biggest rushes I've ever had.
I was about 5 months into the shots when the systemic happened.
